# Notes

## Timetable
- Saturday: ~~temp graphics, get entities on screen and fighting~~
  - Spent the day sleeping and otherwise AFK, starting sunday instead.
- Sunday: temp graphics, get entities on screen and fighting
  - Started: 11:00
  - Graphics and entities done, fighting moved to monday.
- Monday: little time, clean up / procrastination day
  - Basic combat is done, item bases have been added, most item
    implementations and pickups are wip.
- Tuesday: ~~dungeon generation, should be playable at this point~~
  - Drew sprites because inspiration struck.
- Wednesday: ~~content day, items & enemies~~
  - Implemented status effects.
- Thursday: ~~polish / catchup~~
  - Added enemy AIs and the stopwatch, so items & enemies are done.
- Friday: ~~polish / catchup~~ dungeon generation
- Saturday: _ui_, playtesting, bugfixes

## Core ideas
- Only two items: an offensive and a defensive item.
- Health is represented in hearts that consist of 4 units: a normal
attack does 4 damage, which can then be doubled / halved according
  to effects.
- Stats:
  - Health: stays the same for the whole game?
  - Damage: one heart (4 units), modified by equipment.
- Offensive item ideas:
  - Sword: double attack damage
  - Scythe: instant kill enemies below half-health
  - Hammer: stun enemies for 1 round on hit
  - Dagger: add a poison on enemies, can stack until some maximum,
    halve attack damage
- Defensive item ideas:
  - Shield: halve incoming damage
  - Vampire teeth: get health from attacking
  - Stopwatch: get two moves for every enemy turn
- Enemy ideas:
  - Skeleton: walks around randomly, attacks if player is in an
    adjacent tile.
  - ~~Cobweb: doesn't move, attaches to the player on collision, soaks
all damage and prevents movement until the attacks kill the
    cobweb.~~
  - Zombie: acts every other turn, follows and attacks the player if
within some range and in the same room.
  - Dragon: big boss at the end, has lots of health, attacks via fire
breathing which is well telegraphed (highlights tiles hit in red)
    and charging at the player.
- Traps: switches and pressure plates can activate traps, which the
player can use to their advantage, or sometimes, get struck
by. Should be easy to spot.

## Aesthetic ideas
- Attacks and movement should be done via animating the sprites moving
from the origin tile to the target tile, programmatically.
- Each sprite should have two variants, which make up a 2 frame
animation that can be ran slower/faster depending on if we want to
draw the player's attention. At least for living things.
- Enemies should have at least two sprites: "idle" and "will attack."
Which would make 4 sprites per enemy. But it'd look cool!

SIL OPEN FONT LICENSE Version 1.1 - 26 February 2007
-----------------------------------------------------------

PREAMBLE
The goals of the Open Font License (OFL) are to stimulate worldwide
development of collaborative font projects, to support the font creation
efforts of academic and linguistic communities, and to provide a free and
open framework in which fonts may be shared and improved in partnership
with others.

The OFL allows the licensed fonts to be used, studied, modified and
redistributed freely as long as they are not sold by themselves. The
fonts, including any derivative works, can be bundled, embedded,
redistributed and/or sold with any software provided that any reserved
names are not used by derivative works. The fonts and derivatives,
however, cannot be released under any other type of license. The
requirement for fonts to remain under this license does not apply
to any document created using the fonts or their derivatives.

DEFINITIONS
"Font Software" refers to the set of files released by the Copyright
Holder(s) under this license and clearly marked as such. This may
include source files, build scripts and documentation.

copyright statement(s).

"Original Version" refers to the collection of Font Software components as
distributed by the Copyright Holder(s).

Original Version, by changing formats or by porting the Font Software to a
new environment.

"Author" refers to any designer, engineer, programmer, technical
writer or other person who contributed to the Font Software.

1) Neither the Font Software nor any of its individual components,
in Original or Modified Versions, may be sold by itself.

2) Original or Modified Versions of the Font Software may be bundled,
redistributed and/or sold with any software, provided that each copy
contains the above copyright notice and this license. These can be
included either as stand-alone text files, human-readable headers or

binary files as long as those fields can be easily viewed by the user.

3) No Modified Version of the Font Software may use the Reserved Font
Name(s) unless explicit written permission is granted by the corresponding
Copyright Holder. This restriction only applies to the primary font name as
presented to the users.

4) The name(s) of the Copyright Holder(s) or the Author(s) of the Font
Software shall not be used to promote, endorse or advertise any
Modified Version, except to acknowledge the contribution(s) of the
Copyright Holder(s) and the Author(s) or with their explicit written
permission.

5) The Font Software, modified or unmodified, in part or in whole,
must be distributed entirely under this license, and must not be
distributed under any other license. The requirement for fonts to
remain under this license does not apply to any document created
using the Font Software.

TERMINATION
This license becomes null and void if any of the above conditions are
not met.
