#Install using Stow

What is Stow? Hard to tell by the cryptic GNU documentation, it's basically a Perl script that creates symlinks. Read this article, instead.

git checkout https://git.sr.ht/~jman/dotfiles

git submodule update --init --recursive or --remote --merge

stow -d <checkout dir> --dotfiles -t /home/$USER/ <package>

Examples:

  • Symlink Emacs config in ~/

    stow -d ~/dotfiles --dotfiles -t /home/$USER/ emacs

  • Symlink Sway config in ~/.config

    stow -d ~/dotfiles --dotfiles -t /home/$USER/ sway

Each directoty configures a specific application.

#Markdown support for Firefox

After installing some local resources with:

stow -d ~/projects/dotfiles --dotfiles -t /home/$USER/ utils

Run the following command to update the local mimetype management:

update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime
