+As a kid I loved <cite>October Sky</cite>, the film version of this story, so when I stumbled on the book I was excited to read it. It's a great tale of perseverance and shows just how important a few positive influences can be in one's formative years. I particularly enjoyed a deeper look at the relationship between the author and his father, which I don't recall being depicted nearly as well in the movie.
