OBS / nginx / rtmp setup

Greg Farough gregf@gnu.org

The stream was performed on Debian sid with the obs-studio, nginx-full, and libnginx-mod-rtmp packages from the main repository. This computer uses no nonfree software, and does not have the contrib or non-free repositories enabled.

After installing, enable the rtmp module by placing mod-rtmp.conf into /etc/nginx/modules-enabled.

Then, include the rtmp-nginx.conf snippet provided in this repository at the bottom of your /etc/nginx/nginx.conf file. No other special configuration is required.

By default, RTMP listens on TCP port 1935.

For viewing the stream, we asked people to open VLC and tune in to rtmp://example.site/streamlocation/secretkey.
