Jenna Tayrien asked Brooklynn Douglas a few questions about why being nominated Miss Hornet is important to her. She talks about her plans for the future as well as how she plans on giving back to Booker T. after she graduates.

Jenna: Why is being nominated Miss Hornet important to you?

Brooklynn: Being nominated for Miss Hornet is important to me because I really do love my school and my classmates and I believe I embody who Miss Hornet should be. Also my mother was Miss Hornet 1984.

J: What are your plans after you leave Booker T.?

B: After I leave Booker T. I plan on attending Clark Atlanta University and majoring in Biology Pre-Med and then going on to medical school to become a pediatric surgeon.

J: How has Booker T. helped you grow as a person?

B: Booker T has helped me grow as a person by teaching me more about myself than I’ve ever known. At the hive you’re constantly growing and people here genuinely want to see you be great.

J: What is your favorite part of the BTW community?

B: My favorite part about the Booker T community is the support. When I was crowned Miss Black Teen US Ambassador so many of my teachers and the administrators reached out to me and I felt so loved and valued.

J: What is your favorite subject in school?

B: My favorite subject in school is math because I love Ms. Richardson and every problem is like a puzzle.

J: What do you like to do in your free time?

B: In my free time I like to sing, play guitar, and do pageants.

J: What is one goal you see yourself accomplishing in the future?

B: In the future I see myself one day being Miss America. It’s my ultimate dream.

J: What is one way you would like to give back to the school?

B: I would like to give back to the school by hosting a BTW clean up day where students clean up around the school and pick up trash around campus.

J: Is there any advice you would like to give to underclassmen?

B: Advice I would give to underclassmen is to enjoy every minute of high school! It truly feels like just yesterday I was a freshman and it’s so bittersweet to say that I’ll be graduating in a few months!

J: What is a fun fact about yourself?

B: A fun fact about me is that I’m allergic to pineapples!
