As Homecoming is quickly approaching, the Booker T. Newspaper staff has taken the time to interview all of the Mr. and Miss Hornet nominees for the 2018-2019 school year. Editor-in-Chief and interviwer Betsy Martin took this time to interview Amri’ Littlejohn and ask her questions about what being Miss Hornet means to her and how she hopes to represent our school if she is awarded the title.
Betsy: Why is being nominated Miss Hornet important to you?
Amri’: Being nominated as Miss Hornet is an absolute honor! It is so important and meaningful to me that my peers think so highly of me!
B: What are your plans after BTW?
A: I plan to study Criminology to battle prison reform in the best way I can contribute.
B: How has BTW helped you grow as a person?
A: Booker T. has been such an inclusive environment, it feels great to be around like-minded people who want something out of life, who accept others as they are. It’s truly beautiful.
B: What is your favorite part of the BTW community?
A: My favorite part would have to be the amount of clubs and activities here. I also love how everyone has an opportunity to shine in their own way as a collective. I love the people!
B: What is your favorite subject in school?
A: My favorite subject would have to be history.
B: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: As for my l free time I attend church, write poetry, and read up on conspiracy theories and other realistic fiction. If you have a good book recommendation lay it on me!
B: What is one goal you see yourself accomplishing in the future?
A: I see myself establishing a life that I can be happy living… that’s a major accomplishment.
B: What is one way you would like to give back to the BTW community?
A: I want to give back by being being more active in the Fine Arts Department, especially the Drama Department, and any student orginazation that promotes students being involved in politics.
B: Is there any any advice you would like to give to underclassmen?
A: Underclassmen need to take their standardized tests as soon as possible! High school has to be a fair balance of hard work and fun so join a club! There is a place for everyone!
B: Last, but not least, could you tell us a fun fact about yourself?
A: I don’t know which one you find is better but: I put milk before cereal, I love Etta James, my favorite Disney movie is The Hunchback of Notre Dame but my favorite Disney soundtrack is Hercules.
