#Flapjack

#Attempt 1 - not good

  • 250g jumbo porridge oats
  • 125g butter
  • 125g black sugar
  • 3 tbsp golden syrup (depending on how gooey you want it)
  1. Melt butter + golden syrup
  2. Mix with oats and sugar
  3. Bake at 180C fan for 15 mins

Results: Burned, crumbly, dry

#Attempt 2 - not good

  • 150g porridge oats
  • 100g jumbo oats
  • 125g butter
  • 80g cane sugar
  • 45g black sugar
  • 120g golden syrup
  1. Melt butter + sugar + golden syrup (I may have overdone it and made a caramel)
  2. Mix with oats, mix thoroughly
  3. Bake at 130C fan for 25 mins

Results:

  • bad taste (due to cane sugar?)
  • dry throughout (I accidentally used "combi" instead of fan oven)

#Mum's recipe

  • 50g butter
  • 50g brown sugar
  • 100g rolled oats
  • 1 tbsp golden syrup
  1. melt butter + sugar
  2. 20 mins at 180 C (non fan)
